DNS (Domain Name System) Server
What is the DNS (Domain Name System) Server:
Domain Name Servers (DNS) are the Internet's equivalent of
a phone book. They maintain a directory of domain names and translate them to
Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. This is necessary because, although domain
names are easy for people to remember, computers or machines, access websites
based on IP addresses.
DNS Port NO:
The reality is that DNS queries can also use TCP port 53
Forward Lookup Zone
Forward
lookup zones support the primary function of Domain Name
System (DNS), that is, the resolution of host names to IP addresses.
Reverse Lookup Zone in
DNS
Reverse lookup zones
support the resolution of IP addresses
to host names. Although
they are optional in most networks, reverse lookup zones might be necessary for
certain secure applications that require the validation of IP addresses.
